E-autoEarly this year, KMRL introduced 16 e-autos in an attempt to encourage the use of public transport and provide last mile connectivity to commuters. The initiative
was in partnership with Ernakulam District Auto Rickshaw Drivers Trade Union Coordination Committee. 22 more autos will be added to the project very soon.

Auto Rickshaw Drivers Co-operative Society: Helmed by KMRL, Ernakulam Auto Rickshaw Drivers Co-operative Society was formed in order to facilitate the smooth operation of e-autos. The body consists of all six trade unions in the city - CITU, AITUC, INTUC, TUCI, STU and BMS. Technovia Info Solutions Pvt Ltd is the technology partner of the society

Police Station InaugurationHon'ble Chief Minister, Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the city’s first Kochi Metro police station in February, at Kalamassery near CUSAT metro station. Kochi Metro Special Police (KMSP) will help ensure law and order within the metro premises, from Aluva to Petta. This is yet another endeavour of Kochi Metro to ensure safer, carefree journeys for commuters.

In a unique move, KMRL launched its first breastfeeding pod in February at the Aluva Federal Bank Metro station. The event was inaugurated by KMRL MD, Shri. APM Mohammed Hanish, IAS, in the presence of Mr Gokul Gopinath, CEO, CIMAR Hospitals. The pods, sponsored by CIMAR Hospital, comes with comfortable seating and ‘in-use’ locks for privacy.

Water MetroThe ambitious Water Metro project focuses on ferry services as a mode of public transportation and also envisions a holistic development of the areas being connected by waterways. By integrating the waterway system as a part of the entire public transport system of the city, Kochi will not only see faster and improved connectivity but also a significant reduction in pollution.

World Water DayKMRL, together with SCMS WaterInstitute,
celebrated World Water Day at its
Edapally Metro Station. MD, Shri. APM
Mohammed Hanish, IAS marked the
event by pouring water from a pitcher
into an earthen vessel held by students,
signifying conscious utilisation of water
and a sustainable future.

Inauguration of Bank of BarodaOn March 23 2019, the regional office of Bank of Baroda was inaugurated by MD Shri. APM Mohammed Hanish IAS, at the 5th floor of MG Road Metro Station complex in the presence of MD and CEO of the bank, PS Jayakumar.

Women's Day CelebrationAs part of Women's Day
celebrations, an event was held
at the Edapally metro station to
honour five most regular female
commuters of Kochi Metro. Smt.
Swapna Augustine, a differently-
abled artist was the chief guest at
the event. KMRL Director Projects,
Thiruman Archunan, delivered the
message, and Director Systems,
D K Sinha handed over gift
vouchers to the commuters.
Senior officials of Kochi Metro,
students of SCMS College, and
the general public attended
the event.

Work progressThe construction of metro stations from Maharajas Ground to Petta is progressing at a speedy pace. 70% of work has been successfully completed.

|
Metro 2 Crore Fiesta EventMarking the patronage of 2 crore commuters, KMRL
held a celebratory event at the Edapally OPPO Metro
station on 22 March 2019. Renowned actors Jayasurya
and Nikhila Vimal were the chief guests at the event,
and the night came alive to a glamorous fashion walk
and live music by contemporary band NRJ Project.
