As we reflect on another year of progress, I am

proud to highlight KMRL’s relentless pursuit of
innovation and sustainability in our operations. One
of our key achievements this year has been the
successful retrofitting of fastenings with the advanced variant, utilising
balance spares from Phase 1 projects to ensure cost efficiency without
compromising quality.

Complementing this, we pioneered a drone-based inspection system to
assess camber and bearing conditions in waterlogged or inaccessible areas,
eliminating risks associated with manual inspections while delivering
precise, real-time structural data.

Further enhancing our operational resilience, the STC Department achieved
a milestone with the development of an in-house Onboard ATC Simulator,
crafted from contractual spares and repurposed scrap cubicles. This
ingenious solution replicates live train-borne ATC operations, serving as a
robust testing platform while reducing dependency on OEMs. Similarly, our
Digital Inventory Management System—now expanded to the Civil & Track
Department—has revolutionised resource tracking, optimising space and
accessibility. Meanwhile, the Rolling Stock and O&M IT Departments have
made remarkable strides in curbing OEM reliance and fortifying
cybersecurity, ensuring seamless, future-ready metro operations.

Sustainability remains at the core of KMRL’s ethos. From energy-efficient
retrofits to waste reduction and renewable energy integration, every
initiative aligns with our vision of eco-conscious urban mobility. The
collective efforts of our teams have not only minimised our environmental
footprint but also set industry benchmarks, proving that public
transportation can harmonise efficiency with ecological responsibility.

I extend my deepest appreciation to the entire O&M family for your
ingenuity, dedication, and unwavering focus on sustainable excellence.
Together, we are not just maintaining a metro system—we are pioneering a
greener, more resilient future for Kochi. Let us continue to innovate, inspire,
