4. Maintenance Strategies:
Preventive Maintenance: Regular inspections and maintenance activities prevent
equipment failures and reduce operational risks.
Predictive Maintenance: Uses real-time data and analytics to predict equipment
failures before they occur. One of the key tools in Predictive Maintenance is failure
analysis, which involves studying the causes and patterns of past equipment
failures to anticipate future issues.
Condition Based Monitoring: A core technique within predictive maintenance
that involves real-time or periodic monitoring of equipment parameters (e.g.,
temperature, vibration, noise) or certain operating conditions and its failures.
Total Productive Maintenance: A comprehensive maintenance philosophy
aimed at maximising overall equipment effectiveness by involving everyone
(operators, maintenance staff, system) i.e. zero breakdowns, zero defects, and
zero accidents. It is also a holistic approach that will include predictive
maintenance as one of its major roles and outperforms to achieve autonomous
maintenance, focused improvements and planning & scheduling the
maintenances.
In brief, the relation between condition based monitoring, predictive and total
productive maintenance is that the condition monitoring enables the system by
providing comprehensive support to operators to approach productively and perform
the maintenance in which the overall system goals are achieved that are set by Total
productive maintenance.
