Improved Efficiency and Safety

for Spare Cell Chargers

Kochi Metro has addressed a design limitation in its spare cell chargers,

enhancing both safety and operational efficiency. Previously, adjusting the

voltage on these chargers necessitated opening the entire unit, posing a risk
of incorrect settings and potential damage.

To rectify this issue, an ingenious modification was implemented. The design

now incorporates an external potentiometer for voltage adjustment,
eliminating the need to disassemble the charger. This offers several

advantages. Firstly, it minimizes the risk of accidental misconfiguration during
adjustments. Secondly, maintenance time is significantly reduced, as

technicians can make adjustments without opening the unit. Finally, this
thoughtful modification is expected to extend the lifespan of the spare cell

chargers. So far, 30 chargers have been modified and 16 more chargers are
undergoing the modification process.
