Bore wells at Stations
Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) is taking steps to ensure water security
at its stations. To address potential water shortages and reduce reliance
on external sources, KMRL has planned to drill five borewells. These
borewells will be strategically located to cater to the specific needs of
platform cleaning, station maintenance activities, and other operational
requirements. By tapping into groundwater resources, KMRL aims to
achieve greater self-sufficiency in water management, leading to
potential cost savings and reduced environmental impact.
The initiative to drill borewells aligns with KMRL's broader commitment to
sustainable practices. Access to a reliable water source will not only
ensure the efficient operation of stations but also contribute to a greener
and more environmentally responsible transportation system. The
implementation of this project demonstrates KMRL's approach to
addressing potential challenges and securing essential resources for its
operations.
By investing in water self-sufficiency, KMRL is taking a significant
step towards ensuring the long-term sustainability of its operations.
This initiative will not only enhance the resilience of the metro
system but also contribute to the overall well-being of the
community it serves.
