Kochi Metro Rail Limited signed an agreement with the Antea Nederland BV (Netherlands) – Unihorn Consortium for end-to-end execution of the proposed Integrated Urban Regeneration and Water Transport System Project (IURWTS), at a meeting held at the KMRL office on 19 November 2019. The Consortium won the project after emerging the lowest bidder for providing full spectrum services including planning, designing, execution and supervision of the project.
KMRL has urged the Consortium to prepare a comprehensive action plan that will help execute the Canal Rejuvenation Project in a time-bound manner. Mr. Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, Managing Director – KMRL, has also requested the consortium to review and revise the existing DPR before March 2020 so that the actual work can commence by September 2020. Weekly reviews of the project will be conducted to ensure that the work progresses as planned.
The Consortium has informed KMRL that a full-fledged team of experts have been brought together for the timely completion of the project.
Mr. W H (Wim) Kloezen, Project Director – International, Antea Group, said that he is delighted to be a part of the IURWTS project, which will bring about a revolutionary change in the way Kochi commutes. “There will be challenges and obstacles, there will also be a paradigm shift in the mindset of people. The regeneration of canal is achievable but for that the support of all stakeholders is needed”, he said.
