Kochi Metro has always succeeded in its mission to bring the whole city together. Metro’s extension from Petta to SN Junction (Thripunithura) is the next one on the soon-to-be-accomplished list. The district administration together with KMRL officials are working on this project which is set to be completed by May 31, 2019. Kochi Metro Rail Limited will acquire 2.75 acres of land for preparatory work and 2 acres of land for the construction of the two stations. Two elevated stations (Vadakkekotta and SN Junction) and a two-lane bridge across Panamkutty River along with metro viaduct is the scope of work under the contract and the online tender will be opened on May 27th. M/s L&T Infrastructure Engineering Limited and M/s EQMS India Pvt have been assigned the project, along with M/s Seguro Foundations & Structures Ltd for road widening. With the Government of India providing Rs 123 crores towards this extension the mission will soon be completed, improving the quality of life of Kochiites and accelerating faster growth of metro system in the country.
