The inauguration of Kochi Metro’s phase 1 extension from Maharaja’s to Thykoodam stretch was held on September 3, 2019 by Chief Minister Shri. Pinarayi Vijaya in presence of Shri. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs. The construction of the Petta-SN Junction stretch and Water Metro terminals were also inaugurated on the same day at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadavanthra. Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan and Shri. Hardeep Singh Puri took a metro ride from Maharaja’s metro station to Kadavanthra following the inaugural ceremony. Honouring nurses for their commendable services to the society, Kochi Metro offered them the first ride along the new stretch. Health Minister K K Shailaja Teacher joined the nurses on their ride back to Maharaja’s station from Thykoodam.
