Taking a ride on Kochi Metro, German counsel general Margit Hellwig Botte expressed faith that Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) would implement Water Metro in a similar fashion. More than the Kochi Metro, it is the Kochi Water Metro which is expected to revolutionise public transportation system in the city.
She said that the German development bank could bring in finance for the Kochi Water Metro project just like the French agency which supported the Kochi Metro.Botte said Kochi Metro will reach out to a larger population, adding that the integration of various public transport systems would upgrade the transportation systems and would ensure that more people would opt to leave behind personal vehicles and opt for public transport.
Botte said the Germans were happy to associate with Kochi Water Metro and its progress. She was accompanied by Syed Ibrahim, honorary consul for Germany and Director, Goethe-Zentrum Thiruvananthapuram.
“The Kochi Metro is a thrilling experience. It is so clean, so modern and having a smart access to other modes of transport. I wish we had that in Germany,” said Botte. She said that Kochi Metro was definitely an example for everybody , not only for India but to the entire world.
