Kochi Metro Rail Limited signed two Memoranda of Understanding with Kerala Infrastructure Fund Management Ltd (KIFML) for the Kakkanad Bliss City Project and Kochi Water Metro Project, at the two-day ASCEND 2020 Global Investors meet in Kochi.
The 4000-crore worthMoUswere signed by Shri. Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, MD – KMRL and Mr. V S Senthil IAS, CEO – KIFML. Of this, the 3000-crore MoU will be used for developing the Kakkanad Bliss City Project, which in turn is expected to attract international investment.
“KMRL is delighted to announce its partnership with KIFML for the Kakkanad Bliss City project. This will be a one-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art destination in Kochi that will offer world-class entertainment and wellness to domestic and foreign tourists”, said Mr. Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, MD – KMRL. The revenue from the same (non-ticketing revenue) will be utilised for operations and maintenance of Kochi Metro.
Spread across 31 acres, the Bliss City Project will redefine entertainment for Kochiites. KMRL has already engaged an agency to conduct the feasibility study, plan and attract investors for the project. Meanwhile, the Kochi Water Metro project, which will be the largest of its kind in Asia and the first of its kind in India,is expected to make commuting easier for more than one lakh Islanders. KMRL is planning to officially launch the project in November 2020.
