Kochi Metro’s ridership is on the fast track to growth, with passenger numbers crossing the 2 Million (20 Lakhs) mark in December 2019 as well as January 2020. The ridership, which was 12,48,874 in December 2018, increased by almost a million to 21,08,108 in December 2019, which is the highest recorded ridership in a month. The upward climb continued in January 2020 with a total of 20,74,430 passengers.
The number of people using the Kochi1 card has increased to 73,000, which constitutes 29% of the total ridership. KMRL has also introduced Kochi1 Minor Cards for school children above the age of 10 years, with an aim to ensure safe, efficient and eco-friendly intra-city travel services.
