Kochi Metro has crossed the 1million rider mark this Christmas-New Year season, with the ridership touching 1.25 lakh on 1 January 2020. This is the Kochi Metro’s highest recorded ridership on a commercial operations, till date. The number of passengers who used Metro services on New Year’s eve was 84,957 and 90,332 on 28 December 2019.
Kochi Metro’s ridership is on a steady rise, with more and more people changing over to Metro for fast, on-time and reliable intra-city travel. This includes office goers, other daily commuters and shoppers. “The phenomenal increase in the number of passengers, especially during festive seasons, shows how much the people of Kochi trust the Metro to help them travel around the city without any hassles and delays. We will continue to ensure our passengers fast, reliable, on-time services, as always”, said Mr. Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, MD – KMRL.
